With 33 million women joining the labour market between 1990 and 2004, women
now represent 40 per cent of the economically active population in urban
areas in Latin America. A recent detailed ILO study */ of progress achieved
in women's labour force participation shows mixed results in terms of access
to quality jobs, unemployment, remuneration and social protection. ILO
Online reports from Bolivia where women's rights activist Casimira Rodriguez
Romero was recently appointed Minister of Justice and Human Rights.

En Amérique latine, les femmes ont accès à des emplois plus nombreux, mais
pas forcément meilleurs

Avec l'arrivée de 33 millions d'entre elles sur le marché du travail entre
1990 et 2004, les femmes représentent dorénavant 40 pour cent de la
population économiquement active des zones urbaines d'Amérique latine. Une
étude détaillée récente du BIT */ sur les progrès réalisés en matière
d'emploi des femmes a montré des résultats mitigés en termes d'accès à des
emplois de qualité, de chômage, de rémunération et de protection sociale.

femmes Casimira Rodriguez Romero a été récemment nommée ministre de la
Justice et des Droits de l'homme.

Hay más pero no siempre mejores trabajos para las mujeres en América Latina

Entre 1990 y 2004, 33 millones de mujeres entraron a formar parte del
mercado del trabajo de América Latina. Las mujeres representan ahora 40 por
ciento de la población económicamente activa en las áreas urbanas de la
región. Un reciente estudio de la OIT */ sobre los progresos obtenidos por
las mujeres en la participación en la fuerza de trabajo muestra resultados
mixtos en lo que se refiere al acceso a trabajos de calidad, desempleo,
remuneración y protección social. OIT EnLínea informa desde Bolivia, donde
la defensora de los derechos de las mujeres, Casimira Rodríguez, fue elegida
recientemente Ministra de la Justica y de los Derechos Humanos.
